Award Winner Wednesday: Like Pickle Juice on a Cookie

 
 
The title lets you know that something not so great is going to happen in this story.  Pickle juice ruins everything and I am sure it would even make a cookie taste sour.  In this book by Julie Sternberg, eight year old Eleanor faces the end of the world as she knows it.  Her babysitter, Bibi, has to move away to take care of her father who is sick.  This very short chapter book has Eleanor dealing with a new babysitter who is nothing like Bibi all summer long.  Like Pickle Juice on a Cookie looks at the value of friendship and the feelings of losing someone special.
